McCain Lost on Divorce Issues PDF Print E-mail

John McCain demonstrated today how out of touch he really is with family issues in the United States.  The presidential candidate, while attending an Iowa Town Hall meeting was asked by a questioner if as president he "would be bold enough to address the issue of equal access to children for fathers that have gone through divorce.”

What came out of his mouth was both incredible and laughable.  My level of respect for McCain dropped to a level that I think I will never recover from.  His answer was pretty simple, the Republican Presidential Candidate said “I’m sorry to disappoint you, I am not going to overturn divorce court decisions. That’s why we have courts and that’s why people go to court and get a divorce. If I as President of the United States said this decision has to be overturned without the proper appeals process then I would be disturbing our entire system of government… For me to stand here before all these people and say that I’m going declare divorces invalid because someone feels that they weren’t treated fairly in court, we are getting into a, uh, uh, TAR BABY of enormous proportions.”

What?  HUH?  What rock did you just crawl out from under John.  Who was asking for you to overturn divorces?  Hell, most of these men are happily divorced.  What they are looking for is someone like yourself that is running for president to recognize that bias in our courts is removing fathers, and mothers from the lives of their children, creating unnecessary harm to children and our society as a whole.

And a TAR BABY?  Come on John, demonstrate some more bias with this incensitive remark.

Dear John, In case you had not noticed, there is a war here in the US as well, its a war against families, being won by special interest groups like the local Bar Associations, and other groups that benefit from divorce.

Okay John, go back to sleep, your ignorant comments are no longer required!
